Workshop about UK dRTP skills and competencies community collaboration @ SSI Collaborations Workshop
The Software Sustainability Institute's annual Collaborations Workshop (CW) is an immersive, three-day unconference, which emphasises active collaborations, dynamic discussions, and hands-on problem-solving. The highly anticipated Collaborations Workshop 2026 (CW26) will take place as a hybrid event from Tuesday 28 April to Thursday 30 April at ICC Belfast. The event is set to feature an impressive lineup of speakers and an interactive programme of sessions. The theme is Strengthening The Research Software Community. The programme includes a one-hour mini-workshop titled How should the DIRECT Framework adapt to serve diverse dRTP communities?

CaSDaR Contributes to Portuguese Data Stewards Network Session on Electronic Research Notebooks 
In March 2026, CaSDaR was pleased to contribute to a recent event on the Portuguese Data Stewards Network (RPDS), organised through the Re.Data initiative. The event focused on Electronic Research Notebooks (ERNs) and explored their role in supporting effective research data management, reproducibility, and open science practices. As part of the event, Dr Samantha Pearman-Kanza (CaSDaRs PI) delivered a presentation exploring how electronic research notebooks can enhance data capture, organisation, and reproducibility in research workflows. The talk highlighted the role of ERNs in supporting FAIR data practices, enabling structured and well-documented research outputs, and facilitating integration with wider digital research infrastructures.

Developing Career Options for Data Stewards (Online)
Join us for one of two participatory research events exploring the future of data stewardship. In collaboration with the Research Data Alliance’s Data Steward Careers Track Working Group, the University of Sheffield Library and CaSDaR are bringing together people from across the sector to co-create Data Steward personas. Bursaries are available for in-person attendance, and this event is offered as a hybrid sessions. This event is one of two events run in collaboration with UCL's Office for Open Science and Scholarship and STEP-UP.

Announcing the results of CaSDaR’s Funding Call Round 1
CaSDaR launched our first funding call in November 2025, with applications closing on the 22nd January 2026. Our reviewers had a month to review the applications, before our review panels for the £5k funding stream and £70k funding stream met on the 5th March 2026. The quality of the applications we received was incredible and we did not know how we would be able to decide on only funding a few of those applications.

CaSDaR Presents on FAIR Data and ELNs at RSC Analyticode Conference
On the 16th March 2026, Samantha Pearman-Kanza of CaSDaR presented at the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Analyticode conference, which brings together researchers, data specialists, and professionals interested in the intersection of analytical chemistry and digital innovation. As part of the conference, Samantha Pearman-Kanza (CaSDaR) delivered a presentation titled “The FAIR Quest: You Can't Shortcut Your Way Through the Data Castle.” The talk challenged the perception of FAIR data as a simple box-ticking exercise or something that can be achieved retrospectively through digital tools alone.
