CaSDaR Presents on FAIR Data and ELNs at RSC Analyticode Conference
On the 16th March 2026, Samantha Pearman-Kanza of CaSDaR presented at the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Analyticode conference, which brings together researchers, data specialists, and professionals interested in the intersection of analytical chemistry and digital innovation. As part of the conference, Samantha Pearman-Kanza (CaSDaR) delivered a presentation titled “The FAIR Quest: You Can't Shortcut Your Way Through the Data Castle.” The talk challenged the perception of FAIR data as a simple box-ticking exercise or something that can be achieved retrospectively through digital tools alone.

Developing Career Options for Data Stewards (In Person & Online) #LondonEdition
Join us for one of two participatory research events exploring the future of data stewardship. In collaboration with the Research Data Alliance’s Data Steward Careers Track Working Group, the University of Sheffield Library and CaSDaR are bringing together people from across the sector to co-create Data Steward personas. Bursaries are available for in-person attendance, and this event is offered as a hybrid sessions. This event is one of two events run in collaboration with UCL's Office for Open Science and Scholarship and STEP-UP.

CaSDaR at the International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC)  
Samantha Pearman-Kanza and Louise Saul attended, and presented a CaSDaR poster at the in-person 20th edition of the International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC26), which took place in Zagreb, Croatia between 16-18 February 2026. The main theme for the conference was AI, austerity, and authoritarianism: contemporary challenges in digital curation.

In this third training workshop, we consider some technical aspects around data reusability. We take a particular focus on several important elements of data management that are crucial for data reuse: metadata, data documentation, and data citation. The event presents the perspectives of specialists who are developing tools to encourage the creation of rich and complete metadata, supporting data documentation, and tracking data impact through citation practices.

CaSDaR at the Love Research Data event at the University of Oxford 
On the 11th February 2026, Samantha Pearman-Kanza and Louise Saul attended the in-person Love Research Data event at the University of Oxford, held in the Sheldonian Theatre. The CaSDaR team were delighted to be invited to give a presentation introducing our work to the community at Oxford. Also present were representatives from the Trusted Research Environments Software Stewardship, LabArchives, the Bodleian Library, and the AI Competency Centre amongst others. Attendees were introduced to the teams responsible for delivering Oxford’s Research Data Management services and platforms, as well as those contributing to best practice across the wider UK research sector.

Love Research Data 2026
Join us in the Sheldonian Theatre on Wednesday 11 February 2026 and find your perfect match when it comes to storing and sharing your research data. To coincide with the annual International Love Data Week, Research Data Management (RDM) support colleagues and services from the University of Oxford will be on hand for anyone wanting to learn more about how the University provides love and care for its valuable data collections. We will also be welcoming special guests to this year's event, and we will be joined by members of both the Trusted Research Environments Software Stewardship (TRESS) research project and the Careers and Skills for Data-driven Research (CaSDaR) network. This event will provide a valuable opportunity for Academic Researchers, Students, IT and Research Support teams, and any other interested parties, to be introduced to colleagues from the Bodleian Libraries, IT Services and Academic Division and beyond who are responsible for delivering the various Research Data Management services and platforms used at Oxford and support good practice in the UK sector more widely.
