UKRN: Open Research: moving from individual recommendations to coordinated action – part 1

Online

This is the first of a six-part online programme, bringing together funders, publishers, infrastructure providers, researchers, and research professionals to drive coordinated cross-sector action and make open research a reality in the UK. This session explores research data planning and review, focusing on the upstream practices that shape how research data and materials are managed, shared, and reused across the research lifecycle. Using the recent Sustainable and TrAnsparent Research data (STAR) Study Report as a starting point, this session will bring together perspectives from across the sector to reflect on the report’s recommendations, paying particular attention to its concluding recommendation on the need for formalised open research review mechanisms.

LMJU: Open Data Fortnight 2026 – Unlocking Research Potential Through Open Data

Online

Join us as we open the week with a showcase of LJMU’s commitment to open data, open research, and research integrity. Whether you’re new to open practices or a seasoned advocate, this session is designed to inspire and connect. In this session, Dr Davide Bruno will share how openly available research data has enabled him to conduct impactful Alzheimer's disease research without access to large clinical research groups or hospital-based datasets. By making use of established open research databases, he has been able to access valuable data resources, develop new research questions, and contribute to our understanding of dementia while significantly reducing the costs and barriers often associated with data collection.

Bayes Centre, University of Edinburgh 47 Potterrow,, Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Supported by the DisCouRSE network, the focus group will explore the activities, responsibilities, and roles through which dRTPs can become sustainability leaders in their field.

The workshop will focus on:

How dRTPs can influence environmental sustainability decisions across digital research
How dRTPs can shape workflows and technical practices to reduce environmental impact
How sustainable practices can be embedded into digital research without requiring formal authority

DisCouRSE Focus Group: The dRTP-PRISM Interface

Kings College London King's Building KIN 427, Strand Campus, Kings College London, London, United Kingdom

This focus group, run as a satellite event to the 2026 PRISM Network Conference, is an opportunity for PRISMs and dRTPs to come together and explore these questions openly. Through short talks, discussion sessions, and collaborative activities, participants at every level of experience will share what’s worked, what hasn’t, including pain points and frictions that can arise when different priorities, systems, and working practices meet. A key aim of the day is to turn the collective experience of the group into a short, practical guidance document for the PRISM community. This resource will help PRISMs better support digital research collaborations, and contribute to a clearer, shared understanding of the needs, constraints, and expertise that dRTPs bring to research projects.

International Digital Curation Conference: IDCC27

Lisbon , Portugal

IDCC27 will take place in Lisbon in February 27th. The call for submissions is now open!
The 21st edition of the International Digital Curation Conference(IDCC27) will take place in Lisbon, Portugal from 9 - 12 February 2027. The main theme of the conference is ”FAIR DO's: Centring People in the Stewardship and Curation of Digital Objects.” The FAIR principles emphasise machine actionability, but the increasing integration of artificial intelligence systems into data infrastructure carries the risk of marginalising people in the planning, management, and practice of digital curation. The theme of this year’s conference acknowledges the crucial role of people in making digital objects FAIR.
