About the Event
Louise Saul presented the CaSDaR initiative to the computing infrastructure community at Computing Insights UK 2025, an in-person event on the 4th-5th December 2025 at the Manchester Central Conference Centre.
Event Programme
The conference included two full days of presentations about high performance computing and associated science and research, alongside the CIUK exhibition with fifty exhibitors showcasing the latest hardware and software releases. Alongside the main exhibitions and primary presentations there were several breakout rooms to allow exploration of complementary topics in more detail.
Event Audience
CIUK 2025 is essentially for anyone involved in or interested in high‑performance computing, from students to senior researchers, from system administrators to industry vendors.
Event Organiser
The Computational Abilities Knowledge Exchange (CAKE) Network+ is building a community within the Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) programme and the UK’s wider large-scale computing community, acting as a central hub that brings projects together to enable them to share their successes, achievements and explore how to most effectively work together and leverage each other’s work.
Outputs
CaSDaR was represented on the main stage and in the breakout rooms. On the final day of the conference, CaSDaR presented alongside other UKRI funded Network+ groups in the sessions ‘Overview of the NetworkPlus Programme’ and in the breakout session ‘From ExCALIBUR to DRI, linking the UK’s compute programme’. The latter session was run by the Computational Abilities Knowledge Exchange (CAKE) Network+. In this presentation, we gave a high-level overview of the aims and remit of the CaSDaR, describing our key deliverables activities for the next four years, alongside describing the current state of play for Data Stewards.
