Overview
To fulfill the role of supporting Research Data Management (RDM) librarians need to build an understanding of the policy context in which managing data has become important and gain a good grasp of researchers’ activities, motives, perceptions and feelings around their research and their data. This online course explains the need for research data services, how to find out about users and their needs and then how to apply this knowledge to create a portfolio of research data services that they will want to use.

Information professionals and librarians with an interest in or responsibility for supporting research, especially RDM, or any professional wishing to keep their skills up to date in this important field.

Andrew Cox is a senior lecturer at the School of Information, Journalism and Communication, University of Sheffield and led the RDMRose Project. He was author of the book Exploring Research Data Management (2018). More recently he authored several sections of the Sage Research Methods: Data and Research Literacy.
