About the Event
On the 27th November 2025, Dr Samantha Pearman-Kanza and Dr Louise Saul attended the Building a comprehensive and coordinated training landscape for dRTPs Workshop. This was a one day predominantly in-person event (with some hybrid participation) held at Bidborough House at UCL, London.
Event Programme
This workshop begun with sharing findings from the STEP-UP project’s mapping of existing training onto dRTP competency frameworks. This served as a starting point for breakout discussions on the following topics:
- What a comprehensive training offer would look like
- How do we make developing and delivering training sustainable
- How do we coordinate developing and delivering training
- How are we going to take this forward
Event Audience
This workshop was for organisations involved in developing, delivering, or investing in skills training for research software, data, and computing infrastructure professionals.

This workshop was organised by STEP-UP – A Strategic TEchnical Platform for University Technical Professionals. Event Outputs
The outputs from these discussion sessions will all feed into STEP-UPs research into building their training landscape. There are plans for future longer events to consolidate this work and define a long-term strategy.
Samantha serves on the advisory board for the STEP-UP project, whose objectives closely align with those of CaSDaR. We therefore aim to strengthen our collaboration moving forward, fostering the exchange of ideas and expertise between the two initiatives.
