Funding

A significant proportion of CaSDaRs Flexible Fund has been earmarked for Funding Calls to support Data Stewardship. These calls aim to support the Careers and Skills Development of Data Stewards across the UK by providing an evidence base to display the relevance of introducing data stewards in the UK across multiple disciplines and organisations. There will also be ongoing funding streams for events e.g. bursary funds, and applications for workshops. 

Funding Calls

Throughout the duration of the Network+ we will be putting out funding calls for projects that showcase Data Stewardship. These calls will be given with plenty of notice and the following documents will be provided with each call:

  • Guidance Documentation: To explain every aspect of the process including eligibility and finances, and what to include in the application form.
  • Application Form: The required details to apply for the specific call. 
  • Template Award Agreement: A template for the award agreement between the University of Southampton and the Host Organisation (of the recipient of the funding). 
  • Reviewer Criteria: We believe in transparency at CaSDaR and as such will be sharing our reviewing process and criteria so that prospective applicants can understand how their applications will be assessed, and so that prospective reviewers can decide if they want to volunteer.

Funding Events

CaSDaR will launch each funding call with the following events: 

  • Funding Call Launch: Dedicated online event to introduce the funding opportunity and engage the community in shaping its future. These events will present the scope and aims of the calls, outline the application process, eligibility criteria, and timelines, provide space for discussion and Q&A, and explore how these funded projects can contribute to the development of Data Stewardship roles, skills, and career pathways
  • Support Webinars: Regular open forums enabling members to shape the network’s activities, priorities, and discuss current issues faced by Data Stewards across disciplines.
  • Re-Usable Documentation: We have spent a lot of time and care creating these funding calls to be as inclusive and flexible as possible, and we are very happy for others to re-use our documentation if its useful. All of our funding documents will be made available for re-use under CC-BY.
